I’m starting to think that my parents believe that without their help I will never make it on my own . By now they’re activley making that happen. They have made it so that I cannot go anywhere without their help by refusing to even let me attend drivers education.

I’m 23. I’ve held down a job for a year. I’ve paid rent for a year. I think it’s time they considered it. But no that’s out of the question. They say that I’m not responsible because I’m fighting them.

Damn right I’m fighting them. Because I don’t see independence anywhere in the near future. I’m questioning their forty years of “wisdom” because they claim that they want me to grow up to be a person who thinks for myself.

I’m sick of being told I’m wrong. I’m sick of being told that I’m just causing a problem for the family. I’m sick of it all. Let me take part in my own indpendence. How do you expect me to live on my own if you never taught me to drive? How do you expect me to think for myself if I was always told that you were right and I was wrong just because you were my parents and older?

I can’t say these things or I’ll be thrown out.

I’ve never felt more trapped in my life. Hopefully now you can understand my bitterness when I’m told I’m abusive to the family.
